READ
Psalm 42:1 and Jeremiah 9:23–24.

These two passages are about our priorities. Both Jeremiah and the psalmist long to know God and see their relationship with him as supremely valuable.

Discussion #1

DISCUSSION #2
At the beginning of the video, Dr. Evans pointed out that God wants you to know far more than a couple of facts about him. He wants a relationship with you.
How would you describe your relationship with God?

Would you say that you have an experiential, intimate relationship with him? Why or why not?

For some of us, we want to know God but life feels too busy to know him now. Even so, we are sure we will make that effort once life slows down. What sorts of things in your life seem more important than spending time with God?

If you want to know what the most important thing in your life is, take a look at what you boast about. When Dr. Evans was teaching on Jeremiah 9:23–24, he pointed out that the only thing in our lives worth boasting about is a relationship with God. What relationships, possessions, or accomplishments do you use to define yourself?

Whatever you use to define yourself is a temporary gift from God. The wealth of the world belongs to him (1 Chronicles 29:12–16), the most powerful people in the world were placed in their positions by God (Daniel 2:21), and all wisdom comes from him (Proverbs 2:6–8). Instead of bragging about what God has given you, we should turn to him the gift giver. According to Jeremiah 9:24, why should we boast in knowing God?

Why do you think it is easier to brag about God’s gifts instead of making an effort to know him?

Dr. Evans said if you are serious about getting to know God, the only thing you need is a small desire to know him better. What is one way you can make an effort to Know God this week?
